JB-9 Jetpack
JB-9 Jetpack

Personal jetpacks are moving beyond the prototype stage, but is your Icarus fantasy really worth attaching yourself to two turbojet engines with a top speed of 100km/h and peak altitude of 3,000 metres?

In late 2015 Australian inventor David Mayman successfully completed a test flight of his JB-9 Jetpack over the Hudson River. The JB-9 is the first jetpack to use a real jet engine light enough to be carried on a pilot’s back. Given the potential market for emergency services (and Rocketeer fanboys), there’s a good chance personal jetpacks will probably become available in the not-to-distant future.

It’s not so much an issue of when – but if – you should attach yourself to two turbojet engines with a peak altitude of 3,000 metres.
